When Jan is not throwing his constructive criticism around as Klavierpunk, he works on blogs, short videos or is politically active in other ways. A late convert to singing, his instrument has been the piano for 25 years: he jazzy his way through various swing bands, had a six-year stopover in ska (complete with organ!) and now uses the piano and ukulele to present his view of things to the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Jan Kosyk has been playing the piano for 20 years in various bands and ensembles in the styles of Jazz, Bossa Nova and Folk, and for the last five years he has also been a singer-songwriter in the self-created genre of “Klavierpunk<\/a>” (piano punk). Here he combines folk and jazz elements with punk music to convey political and emotional lyrics. Besides composing lyrics and songs, he tries out other art forms like animation and music videos and small installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After 15 years of working in Dresden and over 400 concerts in Germany and Europe, he travelled the world in 2023 and 2024<\/a> to break out of everyday life, meet new people and find inspiration and focus on his own music and art production. He will continue these trips in 2025, although Dresden is currently his base again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
